Tips and troubleshooting specific to Edgeless apps on Android.

Notifications

If you're not receiving notifications (used by apps like Random Reminders and Better Sleep):

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > [App Name] > Notifications
  2. Make sure notifications are enabled
  3. Check that the notification channel isn't muted

Notifications Not Firing on Time

Android battery optimization can prevent timely notifications:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > [App Name] > Battery
  2. Select Unrestricted (not "Optimized" or "Restricted")
  3. On Samsung: also check Settings > Device Care > Battery > Background Usage Limits
  4. On Xiaomi/MIUI: Settings > Apps > Manage Apps > [App] > Autostart (enable)

Manufacturer-Specific Issues

Some manufacturers aggressively kill background apps. If notifications are unreliable:

  • Samsung — Disable "Put unused apps to sleep" in Battery settings
  • Xiaomi/MIUI — Enable Autostart and lock the app in Recent Apps
  • OnePlus — Disable Battery Optimization for the app
  • Huawei/EMUI — Add the app to "Protected Apps" in Battery settings

Storage & Data

Clearing App Cache

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > [App Name]
  2. Tap Storage
  3. Tap Clear Cache (keeps your data) or Clear Data (removes everything)

Storage Permissions

If an app can't save or load files:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > [App Name] > Permissions
  2. Grant Storage or Photos and Videos permission

Permissions

Edgeless apps may request these permissions:

Google Sign-In

  • Uses your Google account — the same one linked to the Play Store
  • If sign-in fails, try removing and re-adding your Google account in device Settings
  • Check that Google Play Services is up to date

Updating Apps

  • Automatic — Play Store > Settings > Network Preferences > Auto-update apps
  • Manual — Play Store > tap your profile icon > Manage apps & device > Updates

Minimum Requirements

  • Android 8.0 (API 26) or later
  • Google Play Services required for sign-in
