Sam — Casual Commuter Player

Tier: Free | Platform: iOS (iPhone SE 3rd gen) | Stage: New

Background

Sam is a relaxed non-binary person in their early 20s who plays games for fun during their commute — not for competition. They prefer short 8-minute games and have never changed a single configuration setting. They just want to tap "Play" and go. They also have mild carpal tunnel, so they prefer larger tap targets and avoid long-press gestures.

Goals

  • Play quick, easy games on a smaller phone without complex setup
  • Use tap-to-select, tap-to-place for tile interactions (no drag-and-drop required)
  • Never think about configuration, word lists, or settings

How They Use the App

Sam has 23 completed games (18 wins vs Easy AI) in about 8 minutes each. They've never changed the default preset — every game is the standard 15×15 with 7 tiles and Easy AI. They never look at history or stats. They play a game, see the result, tap "Play Again."

Their accessibility needs mean they benefit from large tap targets on tiles and board cells, and the absence of any long-press gesture requirements for core gameplay actions.

Tier Rationale

Sam is on the Free tier. All features they use (solo vs Easy AI, default settings) are available for free. Ads are present but not annoying enough to prompt an upgrade — Sam plays a short burst per commute and doesn't dwell on the game list screen where ads appear.
