How to Browse Topics and Discover Advice
Tessa downloaded the app after a spectacular first-apartment disaster. She goes straight to the Finance topic, sorts by "most stories" because she wants the messy real-life parts, and starts reading.
Browse by Topic
- Tap the Topics tab (the category icon in the bottom navigation)
- A grid of topic categories appears with advice counts per topic (Career, Finance, Relationships, Health, Parenting, and more)
- Tap a topic to open its feed
- The feed shows advice cards sorted by most-voted by default
Sort the Topic Feed
On any topic feed, tap the sort selector to change the order:
- Most voted (default) — surfaces advice the community has rated most valuable
- Newest — shows the most recently posted advice first
- Most stories — sorts by story count, surfacing advice with the most real-world context attached
Tessa always sorts by "most stories" because she reads the attached stories before the advice itself — "the messy parts are where the real lessons are."
Read Advice Detail
- Tap any advice card to open the Advice Detail screen
- See the full advice text, author info, vote count, and story count
- Scroll down to read attached personal stories — sorted by most-voted by default
- Each story shows the author's display name, narrative text, vote count, and time posted
- Switch story sort to "newest" to see recent additions first
Lucille reads every story attached to her own advice. She cares that her wisdom is reaching people — the story count tells her whether it did.
Home Feed
The Home tab shows a combined feed across all topics. You can apply the same sort and filter options from the Home feed to narrow what you see without picking a specific topic.
Expected Outcome
You land on advice relevant to your life topic, read through the community's voted-best content, and understand the real-world context through attached personal stories.
Tips
- Sort by "most stories" when you want advice that the community has personally validated with lived experience
- Sort by "newest" when you want to see what's been posted recently and contribute to emerging conversations
- Advice detail shows story count before you tap in — you can preview how much context is available on a card
