How to Post Advice and Add Your Story
Lucille is a retired ER nurse. When a memory of a patient who ignored warning signs surfaces, she opens the Post tab and shares the lesson. Then she adds the story. The advice tells people what to do. The story tells them why.
Post Advice
Posting requires a free account. If you're browsing anonymously, tapping Post prompts account creation via Google, Apple, or email magic link.
- Tap the Post tab (the plus/add icon in the bottom navigation)
- Write your advice as a clear, direct title — this is the core advice itself (up to 200 characters)
- Good: "Always get a second opinion on any diagnosis that doesn't feel right"
- Less effective: "Medical tips"
- Add optional body text for context, caveats, or explanation (up to 2,000 characters)
- Tap Topic Tags and select 1–3 topics from the predefined list (e.g., Health, Personal Growth)
- Tap Preview to review how your advice will appear
- Tap Submit
- A success confirmation appears with a link to view your post
Add Your Personal Story
After posting, you can attach a personal story explaining how you learned the lesson or experienced the advice firsthand.
- Tap your newly posted advice to open its detail view
- Tap Add Your Story
- Write your narrative in the story text field (up to 3,000 characters)
- Optionally add a brief headline/title (up to 100 characters)
- Tap Submit
Your story appears below the advice text on the detail screen. Other users can vote on your story separately from the advice.
Add Your Story to Someone Else's Advice
You can also add a story to any existing advice post — not just your own.
- Find advice you agree with and have personal experience with
- Open the Advice Detail screen
- Tap Add Your Story
- Write your experience and submit
You can add one story per advice post. You can edit it later. The advice card's story count increments across all screens after you submit.
Expected Outcome
Your advice appears in the relevant topic feeds and the Home feed. Your attached story adds personal context that makes the advice memorable and meaningful to readers who encounter it.
Tips
- The advice title is the most important field — write it as a direct, actionable statement
- Body text is where you add nuance, caveats ("this applies when..."), or step-by-step reasoning
- Multi-topic tagging is supported (up to 3 topics) — use it when your advice genuinely spans multiple life domains
- A preview mode is available before submitting — use it to catch typos in your title
- Lucille treats posting like briefing a resident: direct advice first, memorable story second
