How to Build and Use Your Bucket List
Marcus, a collector racing toward his goal of 100 visited lighthouses, uses his bucket list to plan every weekend trip during his morning commute. He adds lighthouses during his 5-minute sessions and checks distances before heading out. This guide shows how to manage your bucket list.
Adding a Lighthouse to Your Bucket List
- Open a lighthouse detail screen (from Explore or Map).
- Tap Add to Bucket List (the bookmark icon). The icon fills to confirm the save.
- Return to the Explore tab or map — the lighthouse now shows a bookmark indicator.
Tapping Add to Bucket List again on the same lighthouse removes it from your bucket list (it toggles).
Viewing Your Bucket List
- Tap the Bucket List tab (fourth tab with the bookmark icon).
- Your saved lighthouses are listed with:
- The lighthouse name and photo
- Distance from your current location (if location permission is granted)
- Region and country
Managing Bucket List Items
- Mark as Visited: Swipe a bucket list item to the right, or tap it to open the detail screen and tap Mark as Visited. The lighthouse moves from your bucket list to your My Visits list.
- Remove: Swipe a bucket list item to the left to reveal the remove action. Confirm when prompted. The lighthouse is removed from your bucket list but remains in the directory.
Planning a Trip with Your Bucket List
Your bucket list shows distance from your current location — use this to prioritize stops when planning a road trip:
- Open the Bucket List tab and scan for lighthouses that are nearby or along your planned route.
- Tap any lighthouse to view its visiting info and official website for hours and access details.
- Switch to the Map tab — your bucket-listed lighthouses appear with bookmark markers, showing their geographic distribution for route planning.
Expected Outcome
Lighthouses you save appear in the Bucket List tab with distances. The bookmark indicator is visible on their detail screens, on the Explore tab list, and on the Map tab. Quick actions (Mark Visited, Remove) work from the Bucket List tab.
Tips
- There is no limit to how many lighthouses you can add to your bucket list.
- Bucket list data is stored locally on your device. Subscribers (Tier C/D) have bucket list items synced across devices.
