David — Lighthouse Traveler (Historian)

Background

David is in his late 50s. He is curious, story-driven, and reads every plaque and sign at every lighthouse he visits. Quality over quantity — his 63 visits span 23 states and are documented in detail.

He uses the Lighthouses app on his iPhone 12, with a Plus subscription, and syncs to his iPad for couch reading after trips.

Goals

  • Document lighthouse visits with rich historical context, not just a date and photo
  • Review journal entries on his iPad after trips (field capture on phone, reading at home)
  • Find lighthouses with strong historical significance using community ratings

How He Uses the App

David's journal entries average 200 words each and always include historical context. His current obsession is a North Carolina trip — he has already visited Bald Head Island Light and Fort Fisher Light. His journal entry for Bald Head Island Light covers the lighthouse's Civil War history, tags "civil-war, north-carolina," and includes 3 photos from his camera roll.

He uses cross-device sync constantly: he captures visits on his iPhone in the field and reviews the journal on his iPad at home. His sync is near-instant — new entries appear on the tablet within seconds.

His favorite lighthouse detail page feature is the light characteristics field — he looks forward to reading flash patterns and color descriptions.

Tier

Plus. Subscribed for cloud sync between phone and iPad. iOS (iPhone 12 and iPad).
