Kai — Adventurous Explorer

Background

Kai is a Korean-American freelance videographer in his late 20s who treats cooking as a creative outlet. He follows food creators on TikTok and Instagram and constantly wants to recreate what he sees. He's energetic and spontaneous — he spins the Dinner Spinner filtered to cuisines he's never tried and uses it as a personal challenge.

How Kai Uses Sizzle

Kai has 47 recipes spanning Korean, Thai, Japanese, Mexican, Ethiopian, and Peruvian cuisines. He actively tracks how many cuisine types he has explored — he earned "Globe Trotter" (5 cuisines) and is working toward 10 cuisine types.

He spins the Spinner almost daily, filtered to "cuisines I haven't tried" — treating it like a culinary adventure game. He has a 19-day cooking streak, motivated by variety rather than the streak count itself.

He recently used OCR to scan his grandmother's handwritten kimchi recipe — "That one's priceless." He has imported 6 recipes via AI video import since upgrading to Pro.

The Upgrade Trigger

Kai found an incredible ramen recipe in a TikTok video, tapped "Import from Video," and hit the Pro upgrade prompt. The recipe was too complex to enter manually — multiple components, specific temperatures. He upgraded to Pro and watched the AI extract a structured recipe from the TikTok URL: ingredients, steps, and a still frame as the photo.

Goals

  • Import recipes from TikTok, Instagram, and food blogs quickly
  • Discover new cuisines through the Spinner's filter system
  • Track cuisines explored and build the broadest possible collection
  • Preserve irreplaceable family recipes via OCR scanning

Tier and Platform

Kai uses the Pro tier on his iPad Air (5th gen). AI video import and OCR scanning are why he subscribes — they match his recipe discovery workflow exactly.
