How to Play Quick Drill

Nadia is a pediatric nurse who does vocabulary on her lunch break. She has exactly 3 minutes. Quick Drill is designed for exactly this: a timed sprint through all exercise types, score at the end, streak maintained.

Steps

  1. On the Today tab, tap the Quick Drill card
  2. A 3-minute countdown timer starts
  3. Questions appear rapid-fire — one at a time, tap your answer and move immediately to the next
  4. Question types are mixed:
    • Context Clue — a sentence with a blank; pick the word that fits from 4 options
    • Nuance Pick — a scenario; choose which near-synonym fits best
    • Usage Check — a sentence with a highlighted word; tap Correct or Incorrect
  5. The timer runs out — your score shows: total correct, breakdown by exercise type
  6. Tap Done to return to the Today tab

Understanding Your Score

Nadia averages 14 correct in 3 minutes. This is a realistic target for a user with 6 completed clusters and 38 mastered words. Don't compare your score to others — it scales with your vocabulary depth. New users with 1–2 clusters completed will score lower; power users with 100+ mastered words will score higher.

Quick Drill Counts Toward Your Streak

Completing a Quick Drill counts as a daily session — your streak increments. This is intentional: the app supports both long deliberate sessions and short bursts. Both are valid. The streak rewards showing up, not session length.

Expected Outcome

A 3-minute drill session with a clear score breakdown. Your streak is maintained, and the SM-2 algorithm uses your exercise results to inform future review scheduling.

Tips

  • Quick Drill only uses words from clusters you've already completed — it won't ask about words you haven't learned yet
  • The breakdown by exercise type (Context Clue, Nuance Pick, Usage Check) shows you which question type you're weakest on
  • Tap the Quick Drill card from the Today tab to launch it directly — no need to open a cluster first
  • Quick Drill accuracy counts toward your mastery progression for words in the drill
