How to Upgrade to Basic Subscription for Sync and AI Writing

Nadia was mid-Quick Drill when a banner ad appeared and narrowed her exercise area. She tapped "Remove Ads" and discovered the Basic Subscription also includes sync for her iPad at home. She subscribed.

Desmond was on the Ad-Free tier for 6 weeks when he tried AI Writing Suggestions on a client deliverable and discovered it required a Basic Subscription. He subscribed immediately.

What the Basic Subscription Adds​

  • No ads — removed on the Today, Library, and Progress tabs
  • Cloud sync — your streak, mastery levels, cluster completions, and review history sync across all your devices

How to Subscribe​

  1. Open the Profile tab
  2. Tap Subscribe or Upgrade
  3. Alternatively: tap any locked feature — a contextual upgrade prompt appears
  4. Review pricing (monthly and annual options)
  5. Complete the purchase through App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)
  6. Tier updates immediately — ads disappear and sync activates

Using AI Writing Suggestions (Basic Subscription)​

  1. On the Profile tab, tap AI Writing Suggestions
  2. Paste a paragraph from any document you're working on
  3. The AI analyzes your text and highlights words it can improve using your learned vocabulary
  4. For each suggestion:
    • See the original word and the recommended replacement
    • Read the nuance explanation (why this word is more precise in context)
    • Tap Accept to apply the change or Dismiss to skip it
  5. The text updates in place with your accepted replacements

Lucinda pasted a grant proposal paragraph. She accepted 3 of 5 suggestions — replacing "good" with "substantive," "important" with "pivotal," and "help" with "facilitate" — and used the result in the final submission.

Desmond accepted 4 suggestions on a client strategy deck. The suggestions came from words in his mastered "Work" domain clusters.

Syncing Across Devices​

After subscribing:

  1. Install the app on your second device
  2. Sign in with the same account
  3. The sync engine pulls your full progress: streak, cluster completions, mastery levels, review history
  4. Progress made on one device syncs to the other automatically

Hector syncs between his Android phone (commute) and an older Android tablet at home. After subscribing, his progress carried over completely on the first sign-in.

Expected Outcome​

Your vocabulary progress persists across all your devices. AI Writing Suggestions provides concrete, personalized word choices from vocabulary you've actually studied — not generic synonym suggestions.

Tips​

  • AI Writing Suggestions are drawn from your mastered vocabulary — the more clusters you complete, the more precise and relevant the suggestions become
  • Sync also preserves your streak across devices — losing a phone no longer means losing your streak
  • Farrah learned this lesson after a 2-month break: her Basic Subscription meant her history was waiting for her when she returned
