How to Log Your Sleep

Who this is for: Anyone who wants to start tracking their sleep quality and duration over time.

Deshawn just woke up after a late night of coding. He wants to log his sleep before he forgets his bedtime. He has never logged before.

Steps

  1. Open the app and go to the Home tab.
  2. Tap "Log Sleep" from the quick-action buttons on the Home tab. (You can also navigate to the Sleep tab and tap the "+" button.)
  3. Set your bedtime. The time picker pre-fills from your last entry (or your quiz answer if this is your first log). Adjust to when you actually went to sleep last night.
  4. Set your wake time. Defaults to the current time. Adjust if you woke up earlier.
  5. Rate your sleep quality. Tap 1–5 stars (or the emoji scale, depending on your version) to rate how well you slept.
  6. Tap Save. The entry completes in under 30 seconds. The Home tab updates immediately to show your last night's data (duration and quality).

Expected Outcome

Your sleep entry appears in the Sleep tab history list (newest first) showing the date, bedtime, wake time, calculated duration, and quality rating. The Home tab quick stats update to reflect your most recent log.

Tips

  • You only need to log once per day. The app tracks one entry per night.
  • If you made a mistake, open the entry from the Sleep tab history list and tap Edit to correct it.
  • After logging 7 or more nights, trend charts appear in the Sleep tab showing your patterns over time.
  • Setting up a morning reminder in Settings → Notifications helps you remember to log each day.
