Nkechi — Lighthouse Traveler (Accessible Explorer)
Background
Nkechi is in her mid-60s. She plans trips carefully around her accessibility needs and those of her church group. She is patient and deliberate, preferring clear layouts and large text over dense interfaces.
She uses the Lighthouses app on an Android Galaxy A14 (a budget device) with 150% system font scaling and high contrast mode enabled. She has a Plus subscription.
Goals
- Plan Southeast coast road trips for her church group using bucket list and distances
- Browse the directory comfortably at large font size using the list view (easier to read than map markers)
- Find lighthouses with good Accessibility ratings before committing to a visit
How She Uses the App
Nkechi has 34 lighthouses visited along the Southeast coast. She uses her bucket list heavily to plan multi-stop road trips — she reviews the list each morning with coffee, checks distances from her current location, and taps through to visiting info before finalizing the day's route.
She prefers the Explore tab list view over the map — at 150% font scaling, lighthouse names and regions are fully legible, while map marker labels can be harder to read. She uses filters to narrow to Southeast coast lighthouses.
Her 5-minute morning sessions are focused and purposeful: she browses, checks accessibility ratings in community ratings, and saves the most accessible ones to her bucket list for church group trips.
Accessibility
Low vision — uses 150% system font scaling and high contrast mode. Tests text legibility, touch target sizes, and map marker visibility on a budget device (Galaxy A14). The list view is her accessible alternative to the map for discovery.
Tier
Plus. Android (Galaxy A14).
