James — Reluctant Journaler
Tier: Free | Platform: iOS (iPhone 13) | Locale: English (en)
Background
James is in his late 20s, living in London. He downloaded Memoryish because his therapist suggested he start recording memories. He's not a natural journaler — he stares at open-ended prompts and freezes. He uses Quick Entry almost exclusively, keeping sessions under 90 seconds. But his entries, when they come, are surprisingly honest.
He records sporadically: two or three times a week with no predictable schedule. He never tags anything. His person links are minimal (Mum, his friend Tom). But the archive is growing, and he returns to it.
Goals
- Process and articulate experiences through writing, as recommended by his therapist
- Build a habit of reflection without the pressure of a structured journal
- Keep entries short enough that he actually writes them
How He Uses Memoryish
James primarily uses Quick Entry for entries under 90 seconds. He occasionally uses Prompt Me when he genuinely can't think of anything — the suggestions help him past the blank-page paralysis. He doesn't use the Timeline, Whereline, or entity system much. The Memories list is his main view.
He uses the Free tier and is likely to stay there — the core features cover everything he needs for his use case.
Typical Session
Spontaneous. Triggered by a moment worth capturing (a phone call from Mum, a weird dream, a frustrating day at work). Opens the app, Quick Entry, 60–90 seconds, done. Doesn't review old memories during the session.
Tier Rationale
Free covers all of James's needs. He's not an exporter or a visualizer — he just needs a place to write.
