How to Complete a Progress Assessment

Nadia, an electronic music producer with 19 completed tracks, takes a formal progress assessment for her "Electronic Single Pipeline." The questionnaire confirms she's at "Analyzing" (Level 4) and gives her two specific actions to reach "Mastering."

When This Applies

Take an assessment when you want to formally check your progress level for a process. The app also prompts a reassessment after you complete 5 or more additional items since your last assessment.

Prerequisites

You need at least one process defined. Assessments are most meaningful after you've tracked several items through a process — the questions ask about your actual practices.

Steps

  1. Go to the Dashboard tab (first tab in the bottom navigation).

  2. Find the progress level card for the process you want to assess.

  3. Tap "Assess Progress" on the card — the assessment questionnaire opens.

  4. Answer 5-8 questions — each question is multiple choice in plain language. Examples:

    • "How consistently do you follow this process?" (Never / Sometimes / Always)
    • "Do you track how long each stage takes?" (No / Starting to / Yes, consistently)
    • "Do you review your process data to find patterns?" (No / Occasionally / Regularly)
  5. View results — the results screen shows:

    • Your current level (1-5) and its name
    • A brief description of what that level means
    • 2-3 specific actions to advance to the next level (e.g., "View your timing data at least once per week" or "Modify your process based on a bottleneck you identified")
  6. Check assessment history — the results screen shows any previous assessments side by side so you can see how your level has changed over time.

  7. Return to Dashboard — your progress level card updates to reflect the assessment result.

How Levels Are Determined

The assessment maps your answers to the five levels:

LevelNameWhat It Means
1Getting StartedNo defined process — working ad hoc
2Building HabitsProcess defined and followed, not measured
3TrackingProcess followed with timing data captured
4AnalyzingData reviewed regularly, bottlenecks identified
5MasteringProcess actively refined based on data

Expected Outcome

  • Assessment completes in under 3 minutes
  • Dashboard progress level card reflects your confirmed level
  • 2-3 concrete next actions displayed
  • Assessment saved to your history for future comparison

Tips

  • The assessment is self-reported — answer honestly based on your actual habits, not your aspirations.
  • If you've been tracking items but not reviewing the timing data, you're likely at "Tracking" (Level 3), not "Analyzing" (Level 4) — the distinction is whether you're looking at the data regularly.
  • Reassess every few months after completing a meaningful number of items. The app will remind you.
