How to Group Songs into an Album
Kofi manages his music business like a business — he groups beats under client session albums and tracks aggregate completion at a glance. This guide shows how to create an album, add songs to it, and read the aggregate progress view.
Prerequisites
You need a process defined and at least some songs you want to group together. Songs can be added to an album at creation time or grouped afterward.
Steps
Creating the Album
-
Go to the Tracking tab and tap "Add Item."
-
Enter an album name — e.g., "Client Sessions Vol. 3."
-
Select type: Album — this marks the item as an album container.
-
Assign to a process — select the process you're tracking for this project (e.g., "Beat Production").
-
Tap Save — the album appears on the Tracking tab.
Adding Songs to the Album
-
Add each song — tap "Add Item" for each song in the album. When creating each song, you'll see an option to assign it to an album — select your new album.
Alternatively, open an existing song's detail screen and use the "Add to Album" option to group it under an existing album.
-
View the album — tap the album card on the Tracking tab to open the album view. You'll see:
- All songs in the album with their individual current stage
- An aggregate completion percentage (e.g., 50% — 3 of 6 songs completed through all stages)
Filtering
- Filter by album — on the Tracking tab, use the filter controls to show only items in a specific album, or only the album's in-progress songs.
Expected Outcome
- The album view shows all grouped songs with individual stage indicators
- The aggregate completion percentage updates as songs complete their final stage
- Filtering by "album" or "active" narrows the Tracking tab to the relevant items
Tips
- Albums are useful when a group of songs share a single release — you can see at a glance what percentage of the album is through mixing, for example.
- Each song in an album can move through stages independently. There's no requirement for all songs to be at the same stage.
- Completing all songs in an album does not automatically complete the album item — mark the album complete manually when the whole project is done.
