How to Export Your Episode History for a Doctor Appointment
Who this is for: Anyone who wants their data in their own hands — for a doctor or therapy appointment, a second opinion, or simply to keep.
Ruth is Free tier and has an appointment coming up. Data ownership is available to all tiers by design: "your data is yours" is a trust feature, not an upsell. Ruth gets the full export on Free.
Steps
-
Open Settings and tap "Export my data". The export assembles your full history server-side, so it needs a connection.
-
Choose your format. CSV for spreadsheets and most doctor-appointment printing; JSON if you want the raw structure. Both contain the same fields.
-
Download the file. The download completes like any browser download, on any laptop — including a five-year-old one.
-
Open it and check the fields. Every field you logged is there: dates, intensities, triggers, what helped, and your reflections. Nothing is truncated and there is no monthly limit.
Expected Outcome
A CSV or JSON file with your complete episode history is downloaded. No server state changed — exporting is a read, not a move.
Notes
- Free tier gets everything. Export is not gated, limited, or throttled on any tier.
- Bring the trend, not the app. A printed CSV or a JSON file on a phone gives your doctor the pattern without needing your login.
- Export includes reflections. The reflections you attached to episodes are part of the export — they're part of your record.
- Deleting your account is separate. Export copies your data; it changes nothing. See the troubleshooting guide if you want data removed.
