How to Play a Solo Game vs AI

Who this is for: Anyone who wants to play a word board game alone against the AI opponent.

Sam wants a quick 10-minute game on his commute with the default settings and Easy AI.

Steps

  1. Tap "New Game" on the Play tab.
  2. Review the defaults on the game setup screen: 15×15 board, 7 tiles, Standard bonus squares, Easy AI.
  3. Tap "Start Game." The board renders with bonus squares marked. Your hand shows 7 letter tiles with their point values.
  4. Place tiles to form a word:
    • Tap a tile in your hand — it highlights as selected.
    • Tap an empty board cell to place it. Placed tiles show a dashed border until confirmed.
    • Place more tiles to extend your word horizontally or vertically.
  5. Tap "Play" to submit your word. If valid, a green flash appears with a score popup showing your points.
  6. Wait for the AI. The AI "thinks" for 2–5 seconds (animated indicator), then places a word. The board and scoreboard update.
  7. Continue taking turns until the tile bag empties and a player uses all their tiles, or both players pass consecutively.
  8. View the game-over overlay. The winner is announced with final scores and highlighted best words. Tap to dismiss and review the final board, or tap "New Game" to start again.

Expected Outcome

A complete game with correct scoring, valid words from the AI, and a final score summary. Average game length is 10–20 minutes on default settings.

Tips

  • Use "Exchange" to return selected tiles to the bag and draw new ones — costs your turn.
  • Use "Pass" to skip your turn without playing — if both players pass consecutively, the game ends.
  • The letters-remaining counter near the board shows how many tiles are left in the bag.
  • Tap the shuffle button on your tile rack to re-sort tiles and spot new word possibilities.
