How to Save and Load Game Presets
Who this is for: Anyone who plays with consistent configurations and wants to set up a game in one tap instead of reconfiguring each time.
Derek has a custom "Big Board Challenge" configuration (19×19, 9 tiles, 2-minute timer, Hard AI) that he wants to reload quickly without re-entering every setting.
Saving a Preset
- Configure your game on the game setup screen (see Configure a Game).
- Tap "Save Preset."
- Enter a preset name (e.g., "Big Board Challenge").
- Tap Save. The preset is saved with all your current settings.
Loading a Preset
- Tap "New Game" on the Play tab.
- Tap "Load Preset" on the game setup screen.
- Select your preset from the list (e.g., "Big Board Challenge" and the built-in "Classic").
- All settings restore — board size, tile count, bonus layout, timer, word list, mechanics, and AI difficulty all reload.
- Make any minor adjustments if needed, then tap "Start Game."
Expected Outcome
The preset saves all configuration settings accurately and restores them exactly on load. The built-in "Classic" preset (15×15, 7 tiles, standard bonus, no timer) always appears in the preset list.
Notes
- Presets are stored locally on your device.
- You can have multiple presets and rename or delete them from the preset list.
- Changing a setting after loading a preset does not overwrite the saved preset — you'd need to tap "Save Preset" again to update it.
