How to Browse Prompt Categories

Elena, whose memory archive centers on family and traditions, uses the category tree to find prompts specifically about her parents, grandparents, and cultural heritage. The Categories tile gives you a structured 3-level tree to explore (for example, People → Family → Parents) rather than a flat list.

What You Need

  • Logged in to Memoryish

Steps

  1. Tap the Categories tile on the Dashboard. The category tree browser opens, showing the top-level categories — for example: People, Places, Events, Emotions, Senses.

  2. Tap a top-level category. For example, tap People. The category expands to show its subcategories: Family, Friends, Mentors, Colleagues.

  3. Tap a second-level category. For example, tap Family. It expands to show the third level: Parents, Siblings, Grandparents, Extended Family.

  4. Tap a third-level category. For example, tap Parents. A list of specific prompts for "People → Family → Parents" appears — for example:

    • "What is something your mother taught you that you did not appreciate until you were older?"
    • "What work did your father do, and what did you understand about it as a child?"
  5. Tap a prompt to open the memory editor. The selected prompt appears at the top of the editor as context while you write.

  6. Write your response and tap Save. The memory is saved and linked to both the prompt and the full category path (People → Family → Parents).

Expected Outcome

You navigated a 3-level category hierarchy, selected a prompt, wrote a memory, and saved it. The memory is linked to the prompt and its category path. On the Prompt Me tile, the category tree shows your answered prompts.

Difference Between Prompt Me and Categories

  • Prompt Me shows a curated list of recommended prompts based on your interests — a personalized shortlist.
  • Categories lets you navigate the full prompt library by topic, useful when you want a specific type of prompt that may not appear in your recommendations.
