How to Search and Filter Memories

Who this is for: Anyone who wants to find a specific memory or set of related memories.

Astrid wants to find all memories about her former student Erik from her teaching years between 1985 and 2000.

Steps

  1. Go to the Memories list (tap the Memories tile or the Memories icon in the bottom nav).
  2. Tap the search/filter icon (magnifying glass or filter funnel, typically in the top-right corner).
  3. Enter a text search term. Type a word or phrase that appears in the memory title or body. Results update as you type.
  4. Add a person filter:
    • Tap the "Person" filter option.
    • Select a person from your entity list (e.g., Erik).
    • The list updates to show only memories linked to that person.
  5. Add a date range:
    • Tap the "Date Range" filter.
    • Set a start year and end year (e.g., 1985–2000).
  6. Review the results. All three active filters combine with AND logic — a memory must match all of them to appear.
  7. Clear filters by tapping the "X" next to each filter chip, or tap "Clear All" to reset.

Expected Outcome

The Memories list shows only memories that match all active filters. The active filter chips are shown above the list so you can see what's applied.

Tips

  • You can apply any combination of filters — text alone, person alone, date range alone, or all three together.
  • Filters persist while you navigate within the search session. They reset when you close the filter panel and return to the unfiltered list.
  • If no results appear, check that your filters aren't too narrow (e.g., a very specific text term combined with a person and date range).
